Understanding Your Child's Bladder/Bowel Needs

As a parent, watching your child struggle with bathroom-related challenges can be overwhelming. Whether your child is experiencing difficulty with potty training, dealing with constipation, or managing bladder control issues, you're not alone. Our specialized pediatric pelvic floor physical therapy services provide gentle, child-friendly solutions to help your little one thrive.

How We Can Help

We take time to understand your child’s needs and develop a treatment plan that works best for your family.

Constipation Management

We provide effective, non-invasive techniques to help establish healthy bowel habits and relieve discomfort. Our approach includes gentle exercises, education about proper positioning, and strategies to make bathroom time less stressful.

Bladder Control Solutions

Whether it's daytime accidents, recurrent infections, or bedwetting, our specialized programs help children develop better bladder awareness and control through age-appropriate exercises and behavioral techniques.

We offer strategies to make the potty training journey smoother for both you and your child, addressing common challenges with practical, child-friendly solutions.

Successful Potty Training

What to Expect

Your first visit will include:

  • A thorough but gentle evaluation in a kid-friendly environment.

  • Biofeedback of pelvic floor muscles to determine effectiveness of muscles (external only)

  • Discussion of your child's medical history and current challenges

  • Development of a personalized treatment plan

  • Practical strategies you can implement at home

We understand these topics can be sensitive, and we create a comfortable, positive environment where both you and your child feel supported and understood.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my child need therapy?

Every child's journey is unique. Some children see significant improvements in just 6-8 sessions, while others with more complex issues may benefit from longer treatment periods. After the initial assessment, we'll provide a clearer timeline based on your child's specific needs.

Is pelvic floor therapy painful or invasive?

Our pediatric pelvic floor therapy is gentle, non-invasive, and age-appropriate. For children, therapy focuses on external techniques, education, behavioral strategies, and play-based exercises. We prioritize your child's comfort and dignity throughout every session.

Do I stay with my child during therapy?

Absolutely! Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate in all therapy sessions. Your presence provides comfort to your child and allows you to learn techniques you can reinforce at home.

How is pediatric pelvic floor therapy different from just seeing our pediatrician?

While pediatricians provide excellent medical care, they typically don't have the specialized training or time to address the neuromuscular components of pelvic floor dysfunction. Our therapists focus exclusively on these issues, providing comprehensive assessment and specialized hands-on treatment not available in standard medical visits.

Is this covered by insurance?

Pelvic floor physical therapy is typically covered under the physical therapy benefits of your insurance plan. Please note that there is a one-time charge of $60 for equipment costs not covered by insurance. This equipment will assist in your child's therapy.
